Last month, Endowed Associate Professor of Global Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Angela Bies was named co-editor of Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly(NVSQ).
Bies, along with Chao Guo of the University of Pennsylvania, will serve as co-editor of the widely recognized top scholarly research journal in the field of nonprofit, philanthropic and civil society studies. Bies and Guo will take over as co-editors of the journal beginning in June 2016.
“NVSQ is the top academic journal publishing research on nonprofit management and philanthropy,” said SPP Senior Associate Dean Philip Joyce. “Angela’s appointment as editor of the journal not only recognizes the high regard that people in the field have for her, but is yet another indication that the University of Maryland is increasingly THE place to go to study the nonprofit sector.”
Nonprofit & Voluntary Sector Quarterly, which is the journal of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action, focuses on five general areas, including organization and leadership, philanthropy, voluntarism, public policy and civil society.
In 2015, Bies also served as co-chair for the 2015 Association for Research on Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Conference in Chicago, which was the organization’s annual research conference.
