The Committee on Politics, Philosophy, and Public Policy (known informally as CP4) is an interdisplinary graduate specialization at the University of Maryland at College Park. The Committee is a joint venture of the Department of Government and Politics , the Department of Philosophy , the Institute for Philosophy and Public Policy , and the Maryland School of Public Policy.
The Committee is open to graduate students pursuing the Ph.D. in either Government and Politics, Philosophy, or the School of Public Policy, as well as to graduate students in other disciplines at the University of Maryland with interests spanning politics, philosophy, and public policy. The College Park campus possesses unusual strengths in political theory, moral philosophy, and public policy, and the Committee offers graduate students from various departments the opportunity to take advantage of these strengths.
The university is ideally located for a program of this kind, 25 minutes from the nation's capital and 45 minutes from Baltimore. Both the campus and the area offer a particularly wide variety of research, cultural, and recreational opportunities, with easy access to the resources of governmental agencies, research institutions, and policy centers.
