In June, Ellen E. McCarthy ’88, vice president for intelligence and analytics at Noblis, was nominated to be an assistant secretary of state for intelligence and research by President Donald J. Trump.
McCarthy, an alumna of the UMD School of Public Policy, has served as vice president of Noblis since 2016. She has a long and illustrious career in the intelligence community. McCarthy previously worked as director of plans and programs of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, president of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance and director of the human capital management office. She served as the director of intelligence operations, strategy and policy for the United States Coast Guard and an intelligence research specialist for the U.S. Atlantic Command.
Throughout her career, McCarthy has been honored with a number of awards, including a Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Medal, a National Intelligence Superior Service Medal and a Presidential Rank Award, Meritorious.
