Bob Woodward, Bush at War (Simon and Schuster, 2002). READ THIS BOOK FIRST: It will be the assigned reading for the February 3/4 seminar meeting.

Graham Allison and Philip Zelikow, Essence of Decision: Explaining the Cuban Missile Crisis, Second Edition (Longman, 1999). This is a thoroughly revised and updated version of the book many students encountered in earlier courses. Therefore students must use the second edition, not the original.

Rebecca K. C. Hersman, Friends and Foes: How Congress and the President Really Make Foreign Policy (Brookings Institution Press, 2000).
