Big Choices: The Future of Social Security
CHASP and the LBJ Presidential Library hosted a policy symposium, Big Choices: The Future of Social Security, on April 21, 2005. The symposium, third in a five-year series, addressed the issue of Social Security reform. The program included presentations by Professor Kenneth Apfel, former U.S. Social Security Commissioner, John Rother, Director of Policy and Strategy for AARP, Barbara Kennelly, Director of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, and other national representatives from the Heritage Foundation and the International Social Security Association. The symposium also featured intergenerational discussion groups with students, Social Security beneficiaries, and health professionals.
