Mr. Wasserman joined the Institute after years of legal practice, research and teaching. He represented indigent defendants on appeal in New York City and wrote an empirical and policy analysis of indigent appellate defense, A Sword for the Convicted (1990). Among his research interests are biotechnology and disability policy, the preservation of human environments and cultures, and ethical issues in probability, statistical inference and legal proof. He is co-editor, with Robert Wachbroit, of Genetics and Criminal Behavior: Methods, Meanings, and Morals (1998) and the author of many articles, which have appeared in Philosophy and Public Affairs, Cardozo Law Review, Maryland Law Review, and the Encyclopedia of Bioethics.
