"An Inconvenient Truth: The Slideshow "

University of Maryland School of Public Policy alumna Kara Ball was trained by former Vice-President Al Gore and his team of scientists and educators to present the slide show featured in An Inconvenient Truth, the documentary film about the global warming crisis that recently received two Academy Award nominations.

Kara, who is currently Special Assistant to the President of National Wildlife Federation, is one of 850 people nationwide to have been trained by The Climate Project during the last five months.

“As I’ve watched our scientific understanding of the climate crisis mature during the last few years, I’ve come to realize that most people do not realize the seriousness of this problem and the importance of taking action. Al Gore’s presentation, which he has developed over the last 15 years with the assistance of our nation’s leading climate scientists, provides me with an extraordinary tool for educating members of our community,” says Kara.

After An Inconvenient Truth was released, Al Gore formed The Climate Project to recruit and train a team of responsible and motivated individuals to present a shortened version of his presentation about global warming, chronicled in the film. The goal of the Project is to deploy these messengers throughout the U.S. – and eventually in other countries – to educate and energize the public to take action on global warming solutions. Their short term goal is to educate 1 million people in the next 12 months with the global warming message.

“The training was an exciting experience,” said Ball. “We reviewed the science of global warming and presentation skills with experts. My fellow trainees were from all parts the country, and from all walks of life. Everybody shared the realization that we must take action now for the well-being of our children and grandchildren.”

Kara is available to give the presentation, which is free of charge and an hour in length. To schedule a presentation, call Kara at 703-438-6088 or email at kungerball@hotmail.com
