'Environment and Evil in the Amazon,' Fiction and the Frankfurt School
Professor C. Fred Alford will be taking about his novel, Ashes of the Moon: Environment and Evil in the Amazon, which has been used in courses in environmental politics. He will use this work as a way to talk about fiction and the work of the Frankfurt School, in thinking about the environment.
Dr. C. Fred Alford is a Professor of Government and Distinguished Scholar-Teacher at UMD. He is interested in the psychological roots of morality, but is very careful not to reduce morality to psychology, or to imagine that psychology can form the basis of morality. In one way or another, these assumptions mark his most recent books.
