Engaging China in Climate Change and Energy Issues: the WRI Experience
A recent study by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency reported that China's CO 2 emissions surpassed those of the U.S. by 8 percent in 2006, which was not predicted to occur by the IEA until 2008 at earliest. Clearly, China's development has serious development and global environment implications, particularly in the areas of climate change and energy consumption. This discussion will introduce the current status of climate change and energy-related issues in China, relating the experience of the World Resources Institute in establishing an energy conservation and greenhouse gas management program.
