Maryland's Energy Future: The Vital Role of Renewable Resources

The role of energy in Maryland's future is vitally important. Economic development and jobs depend on the reliability, affordability, and availability of energy. Preserving and enhancing Maryland's natural environment is challenging given the competing demands, however, renewable energy will enable Maryland to achieve both economic and environmental goals. Learn about the policies and programs that will shape Maryland's energy future.

Michael M. Li serves as the Chief of Staff for the Maryland Energy Administration. He has worked at the Energy Administration for the last three years and principally directs the development of alternative and renewable energy policy for the State. Mike has worked on projects in ethanol, biodiesel, wind, solar, biomass, poultry litter, landfill gas, hydrogen and numerous other alternative energy sources. Previous to his time at the Energy Administration Mike worked at the Governor’s Office of Smart Growth on land development issues, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources on green buildings, and the U.S. Government Accountability Office on hazardous waste. Mike lives in Baltimore and has degrees from both Rutgers and Johns Hopkins Universities.
