Dean's Welcome Welcome to the Maryland School of Public Policy on the web. I've been a faculty member at the School since 1988. The School enjoys several unique advantages that drew me here, and which make me especially pleased and proud to be the School's dean: --The School is located inside the Capital Beltway, a short Metro ride from Congress, federal agencies, international organizations, think-tanks, and numerous nongovernmental and nonprofit organizations. --We are the only school inside the Beltway that combines public policy and international affairs, allowing students to make connections and move freely between domestic and international issues. --We are the only policy school in the Washington area that is embedded in a major research university, allowing students to benefit from interactions with top-ranked graduate programs in economics, government and politics, education, criminology, business, engineering, and the natural sciences. --As the flagship campus of the University of Maryland, we serve the State as well as the nation through policy research, and education at all levels--national, state and local.
