Faculty
Our unique strengths allow the Maryland School of Public Policy to attract an unparalleled faculty of policy scholar-practitioners who share both the theory and practice of public policy and management, and play influential roles in the nation's policy making process.
For starters, we have the winner of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Economics as well as the two leading scholars on both the federal budget process and U.S. trade policy and politics. Members of our faculty currently hold or have held posts as U.S. Trade Representative, Undersecretary of Defense, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Commissioner of the Social Security Administration, Directory of Foreign Policy Studies at the Brookings Institutions, Direction of the U.S. National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, and a number of key state and local positions.
Our students have access to these individuals, their current policy initiatives and their sphere of influence through small classes and policy forums, research opportunities and liberal office hours that allow for intellectual exchange and the establishment of lasting personal relationships.
