Public demand for excellence in the management of public resources has never been stronger. Virtually every level of government faces unprecedented pressure for improved financial accountability, while striving to provide high levels of service at low cost. Public demand for accountability and transparency in areas other than financial management, including regulation and policy formation are equally in demand. Finally, third parties, whether the media or interested stakeholders, are also held to a higher degree of accountability than in previous decades.
OEP works with the federal government, the State of Maryland , and non-profit and private organizations to insure that public servants, others involved in the policy-making process, and those that report to the public have an informed understanding of the issues impacting public well-being. OEP endeavors to be a resource for those interested in leading for the public-good by providing educational support and training to encourage responsible, transparent, and accountable frameworks and practices. |
