Certificate in Intelligence Analysis

At no time in American history has sound intelligence analysis been a more important public policy concern. Today, the collection, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence to support national security decision making is rightly at the forefront of government and supporting organizations' actions.

The objective of the Certificate Program in Intelligence Analysis is to develop proficiency in a uniform set of core conceptual competencies and skills that all those involved in the support of major national security and intelligence agencies should possess, as well as additional conceptual competencies important to particular forms of intelligence analysis.

Current and future intelligence community analysts will benefit from completion of this certificate program. The certificate consists of four, three-credit courses (12 graduate academic credits) and is offered in several formats including semester-long courses and condensed, executive formats. All course sessions incorporate a variety of teaching styles and students' learning in the classroom is reinforced through enrichment experiences such as brown-bag lunch seminars with leading thinkers and practitioners in the field.

The certificate program consists of the following four courses:

  • Intelligence Policy and Organizations
  • Critical Thinking for Analysts
  • Problems of Global Security
  • Intelligence and Policy: Executive, Congressional and Public Dimensions

Beginning in Fall 2009, courses will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 8:15 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Building (Room G101) in downtown Washington, D.C. One course will be offered each semester (including Summer) pending enrollment levels.

Tuition is $3,500 for each three-credit course.
